Face to Face: The Photography of Lloyd E. Moore is a remarkable collection of photographs by an ex-Marine who worked as a lawyer in Lawrence County, Ohio, for around thirty-six years. As Moore himself tells us, An attorney who practices family, jury, and criminal law meets a lot of interesting people. Not all of them are clients or even people directly involved in various cases. Even though they might be connected to the job, thats not necessarily why you remember them. My experience led me to the conclusion that everybody matters. In stark black-and-white photographs, or spread across two pages in full color, the images of the people of Ironton and Lawrence County, Ohio, seem to have captured their photographer, and will haunt the viewer as well. Whether in glimpses of stern young boys posing against the backdrop of dire poverty or in the living room of a cheerful member of the Ironton Womens Music Club, Moores uncanny ability to seize a moment in his subjects day brings a timeless quality to his work.
