The Choice of Men

Heber Averil's struggles as a gay Mormon begin on his mission to pre-World War II France where, to his delight and horror, he has his first sexual experience - with a man! When Hitler sweeps across Europe, Heber returns to Utah where his demanding conscience compels him to follow the mandates of the church and deny his desire for men. His best efforts to do so drive him to the breaking point, his fraying nerves and growing despair soothed only by the forbidden company of men close to him. On his path to self-acceptance, he must make tortuous decisions that shape the course of his life while profoundly affecting those he loves most.
