别扭的声音 The Awkward Voice

This is a collection of heavyweight articles selected from interviews to a large number of figures conducted by cultural journalists of Southern Weekend. It stretches across the global cultural landscape from Harvard Campus to Swedish Academy, from academic elites to religious leaders, from poets, writers to educators and even entertainment stars. It touches different fields, which, however, all belong to culture. The interviewed objects share a common characteristic, that is, philanthropy, sense of responsibility, accountability, anxiety and indignation. Their voices are marginalized, although their status might be endowed by culture; their thoughts always seem "e;contradictory"e; and inopportune with the reality, which surely are of their own. Fragility is most powerful. Contradiction is not bashfulness, but a kind of texture, intensity, angle and toughness. Heat of these thoughts inspires us to step over threshold of hope-the universal and history-connected future. China has gradually become a focus of the world while Southern Weekend is main shaft of the engine for contemporary Chinese thought and dissemination: in the noisy and sharp rotation, engine oil and sweat are taken as the lubricant; although the change of reality is slow, the engine will not stop running.
