Without an iota of doubt, being a parent is, in my opinion, the single largest responsibility that can be given to a human being. It comes down to having day-to-day charge of another human life until that dependent life is able, capable and indeed willing to assume that responsibility on their own. It transcends the responsibility given to

national leaders or corporate executives in that the responsibility of a parent is direct, close and any successes (or failures) develop and evolve with the parent over time. National or corporate leaders can resign or retire; parents – at least responsible ones – are not afforded that opportunity.

This book covers the issues that parents or would-be parents face from the third trimester of the pregnancy until the age of three, about when the child starts schooling. The issues covered range from practical issues such as how to set up a child’s room or choose their clothing to factual advice on topics such as the mandatory vaccinations and innoculations a child must have and at what stages these must occur.

A book like this is therefore important for many Generation X parents and millennials are travelling farther from ‘home’ and therefore have reduced access to the family networks and support that generations before them enjoyed at the critical points of childbirth and in early child development.

I recalled my need for such a book as a younger parent and I am glad that I have taken the time out to write down these snipnets to provide a good starting point for the generation behind.

Happy parenting!
