A Fantasa for Two Lutes

Plague has struck a little town, and seventeen are dead. Fifteen years go by. Aaron Westwode, sexton of the Old Grace Church, is tormented by guilt, its origin unknown. A gentle man, he spends his time in mindless work, through which he seeks asylum from his thoughts. But Christmas Eve has come, and thought has driven him to black despair. Upon the brink of suicide, an apparition leads him to the church, where Aaron meets the ghost of Margaret, a woman murdered fifteen years before. A victim of the plague, her love for Aaron draws her back to earth. She wafts him to the other world, where visions of his past precede a trip to Hell, and confrontation with a stark reality.



A Fantasa for Two Lutes is a Christmas story in the classic mold, with ghosts and visions, and the promise of redemption for a life misled.
