This is a story about a little boy named Tim Pratt, raised in the 50s on a farm in southwestern Iowa, who dreamed of making something of himself, something different and maybe better. Yet, Tim's dreams were constrained by his environment and nagging insecurities. He set out to do what he had been trained to do-work hard, overcome odds, lean on others, never give up-and he found himself climbing the ladder of success. He attended law school and joined a prestigious law firm-Shook, Hardy & Bacon-where he became a nationally-recognized trial attorney. He then became a business executive and general counsel for a prominent medical device manufacturer, Boston Scientific Corporation. This is a story about that little boy's journey, but it is so much more. The book also contains insightful and personal stories about what Tim learned along the way on such topics as parenting, success, happiness, leadership, love, loss, grief, forgiveness, courage, youth athletics, ghosts, executive presence, faith, secularization, activism, narcissism, character, aging, and family.
