A Librarian's Sojourn

The book A Librarian's Sojourn: Messages of Hope and Inspiration by Eugene Michael Giudice is a collection of reflections, written between March 2020 and October 2022, as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The author, originally intending a brief project, ended up writing for over 42 months, creating more than 130,000 words of reflections and encouragement. These daily messages were sent to a mailing list of about 300 people, offering them inspiration and fostering a sense of community during an isolating time.
Through personal anecdotes and quotes from a wide array of figures such as Golda Meir, Nelson Mandela, and Maya Angelou, Giudice shares thoughts on courage, humor, compassion, and resilience. Each reflection connects to timeless themes like trust, creativity, kindness, and optimism, offering a blend of wisdom and lightheartedness during a dark period. The book not only addresses the immediate challenges of the pandemic but also contemplates the creation of a post-pandemic world founded on justice, compassion, and inclusion.
