A Storyteller

Meng Qinghua loves to tell stories. Although she never attended school in her village in Shandong, China, Meng is known for her intriguing tales and is adoringly called, "grandmother of stories" by the neighbor children. In her first collection of short stories told orally and then recorded and translated by friends, Meng presents one hundred entertaining tales that portray moral dilemmas, Chinese legends, and a variety of life challenges.

From the couple who willingly help an arctic fox despite their own loss and soon discover that their gift of love is repaid twofold to the dogbaby who must grow up with contemptuous looks from those around her until she can reincarnate into a human, Meng leads others through folklore helped along with a variety of characters who must face distinctive challenges and solve honorable predicaments.
