This is the fourth book published by Michael J Flagg and focuses on the life and work of a Sicilian hairdresser in London, spanning over fifty-five years and continued today by his son Jack. It also includes fascinating historical and cultural information about the largest island in the Mediterranean, the significance of professional hairdressing in the twenty-first century, as well as the contribution made to British culture by people from the Italian Peninsula and Sicily in particular.
Michael Flagg's three previous publications are 'From Punch and Judy to Haute Cuisine - A Biography of the Life and Times of Arthur Edwin Simms 1915 to 2003'. Published by AuthorHouse in 2011, it is about a notable Head of two UK centres and the Pusa Institute in Delhi, India. It is of particular interest to students and lecturers of Hospitality Management and it has been described as the only publication to date giving a detailed and comprehensive account of the growing importance of hospitality education in the UK in the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. It is available in a 473-page colour book and on Kindle.
His second publication entitled 'The Learning Curve of a First Time Self-Published Writer On-Line', published by Xlibris in 2014 is also available on Kindle and runs to 97 pages. It is an account of the trials and tribulations of creating and marketing a first book through self-publishing.
A third book, 'Surviving in the Theatre'- A Biography of Michael Wheatley-Ward, was published by New Generation Publishing in 2019. This was a welcome opportunity for the author, who has been involved in theatre for over fifty years, albeit mostly in a non-professional capacity, to seek answers to the many questions in this field that have alluded him all his life.
