Administration of Social Security

This manual has been produced primarily for use in countries where social security systems are not yet operational, are undergoing change, or need to be improved. In particular, it aims to be of use in developing countries and countries in transition. It is the first in a series of manuals produced by the Social Security Department of the ILO. Each of the manuals is a self-contained, stand-alone publication, which can be read and refered to independently of the others. The book explores aspects of the administration of social security and provides a general overview looking at policy, structures, common features and principles of good management. Subsequent modules examine levels of administration, coverage, registration procedures, collection and recording of contributions, and the award and payment of benefits. Public relations are also explored, and the final module examines management topics.
