African Voices on Development and Social Justice

African perspectives on development and social justice in Africa rarely find expression in the mainstream Northern media. African Voices goes some way to redressing this by offering a collection of editorials from Pambazuka News that cover a wide range of concerns. The book looks at 'Underdevelopment' - aid, trade, debt and the social consequences of globalisaton, remembers the Rwanda genocide, explores resource exploitation in Nigeria and comments on issues in Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Darfur. The book discusses the rights of women and of refugees in Africa, and looks at the unhappy role of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. The book's 46 contributors include such distinguished African intellectuals and activists as Demba Moussa Dembele, Mahmood Mamdani, Adebayo Olukoshi, Kwesi Kwaa Prah, Brian Raftopoulos, Pierre Sane and Ernest Wamba dia Wamba.
