All Because Of A Book

When I was twenty-one, I married a man to please my family and the church. After six years of abuse, I filed for divorce and left.

With a shattered heart and no idea how to heal, I read a book by Gabrielle Stone that changed my life. I stepped out of my comfort zone and attended the book release party for her second book, where I met the love of my life. She happened to be a girl.

Now I had a decision to make. I could suppress my feelings for her as I had been taught and be "straight" for the rest of my life. Or I could face down my religious trauma and allow myself to fall in love with her, knowing my family would never accept our relationship.

I chose the second path and so began my healing journey.

I had been living my life based on my family's beliefs, and my life had fallen apart. Now I had to pick up the pieces and heal the wounds within. I had to learn to not care what others think, live for myself, kiss my best friend, and fall in love.

I learned to love myself and embrace the love I deserve.
