All By Myself depicts every effort that Lola made to survive. Lola Bonoparte Captain witnessed

urban sprawl awaken a small rural village, where she grew up as a child in Lore, South Carolina.

Nevertheless, the transformation of the changing infrastructure did not affect her way of life,

because she still believed in those old-fashioned values.

Lola faced discrimination and unfairness due to her skin color. Although her dark skin was not

considered attractive to many, Lola was taught to love herself despite the hate. She was born a

warrior. Refusing to conform to leadership that failed to practice moral standards, she fought

against internal corruption in her first home church, became excommunicated, relinquished her

membership, and then embarked on another spiritual journey. 

This enriching novel guides the reader through her perplexing life as she defeated abuse through

forgiveness, coped with disappointments, and stood tall against disparages.
