A fifteen-year-old Jimmy Maxwell on the run from a bloody crime scene back in El Paso, Texas-finds himself in his hometown of Guymon, Oklahoma. There he becomes entangled in the legal system and soon finds himself a Ward of The Court sentenced to the worst juvenile reformatory in the state. Its reputation as a house of pain by mean-spirited guards proceeds itself. Maxwell will learn new lessons in violence, survival, and friendship as he navigates his troubled and volatile adolescence.
