This story is based on the lives of two men who became firm friends from childhood.



Their friendship began during their school days, during the time of the emergence of



The Welfare State and Capitalism was the pillar of British society. From the



beginning of the story, the teller changed his name and the name of his friends and



family to protect their identity. He, Jeremy Maxted, and Laurence Marshall who was



the son of a wealthy landowner with properties and businesses, which amounted to



vast wealth. Whereas, Jeremy's family, were poor whom had to survive the economic



threats which had blighted most of Britain. Jeremy and Laurence interacted



constantly, and the two men fought in the First World War. After the War, Jeremy



became one of Laurence Marshall's employee. Jeremy's work sees him living life



settled in Italy, and Laurence visited him continuously, whilst he was living there,



from time to time. Laurence married an Italian countess, Sophia Del' La'Prosser, but



the marriage ended in grief. Jeremy's wife, Tagrapha and the mother of his twin boys,



embarked on an affair with a bronzed adorns, an Italian by the name of Marcell



Marlone. When Jeremy discovered the affair; he tormented himself that he must make



everything right took the life of his rival. He confides in Laurence, who with the help



of a crocked detective manages to stay one step ahead of the police. However,



unknown to Jeremy, Marcell Marlone was the son of a wealthy Italian noble family,



who will stop at nothing until they find the killer of their son and heir. Not even



Laurence's vast fortune can bring this story to a happy conclusion for both families.
