The book has a very personal feel to it because Amy Elizabeth is addressing the reader. She talks about "kids like us" as if we are part of a group and she is your friend. It was very well set out, just like a story book. It had beautiful pencil illustrations that children could relate to. It was a nice size, not too daunting; the sort of book I think a child would be happy to read together with an adult. All in all I think this would be a very valuable resource for any psychotherapist, counsellor or social worker working with children to help them explain the process of play therapy.' - Counselling Children and Young People Reassuring and encouraging, Amy Elizabeth Goes to Play Therapy suggests that therapy will be a fun and beneficial experience. With attractive illustrations capturing a child's perspective, the book is ideally suited for children aged between 2 and 12. Answering the most commonly asked questions in simple, accessible language, Amy Elizabeth guides the reader through the experience of therapy, describing what happens at a play therapy session, the reasons why children may need therapy, and the goals of the process. Child therapists working in a variety of fields will find this book an invaluable resource for sharing with children and building a rapport with them.
