Dr Alison Pooler obtained her degree from The University of Edinburgh and has practiced in the areas of acute medicine, theatre, A&E and intensive care, before eventually specialising in respiratory medicine and undertaking her PhD in this area. She currently teaches at Keele University where she is involved in research on respiratory medicine, chronic diseases and health psychology.
