Andrew Crawfurd's Collection of Ballads and Songs

The collection of one of the most active and interesting of Scotlands ballad collectors Crawfurds collection sought out those texts that were preserved through oral rather than written tradition and this imparts a particular distinction to his corpus. Versions of famous ballads featured in these volumes include The Cruel Mother, The Three Ravens, and The Wee Wee Man.
