Anti-Achitophel

First published in 1682, Anti-Achitophel is a searing attack on the notorious politician and writer John Dryden. Samuel Pordage, a little-known poet, accuses Dryden of hypocrisy, plagiarism, and moral decay, among other sins. While the poem was largely forgotten after Pordage's death, it has since been recognized as a valuable historical document shedding light on the political and literary battles of the late 17th century. This edition includes a critical introduction and extensive notes to help readers navigate the poem's complex political and cultural context.
