Archaisms in the Formation of the Language Picture of the World

Lexicon, along with other linguistic means, plays an important role in the formation of the linguistic picture of the world of the nation and, consequently, in linguocultural contacts with representatives of other ethnic groups and mutual understanding with different peoples. Archaisms reflect a certain system of values of the people at a certain stage of its development and characterize the peculiarities of the perception of the world, customs and traditions that are reflected in the language. This work is an attempt to define the linguistic picture of the world of France, captured in historical novels, and to point out the historical and cultural realities that were reflected in the language of that time. In this study, attention is paid both directly to archaisms, which are obsolete words, and to historicisms, which are linguistic indicators of those realities that have fallen out of use due to the disappearance of the objects that they denoted.
