With the coming of the Manned Spacecraft Center in the early 1960s, the Clear Lake Area became the center for cutting-edge technology and space travel. From west to east on the south shore are League City, Clear Lake Shores, and Kemah. The lake feeds into Galveston Bay, creating a waterfront lifestyle with the third largest boating community in the United States.
