Art Deco London

The Art Deco style flourished in Britain during the 1920s and 1930s. London became the heartland of this elegant and modern style, and in the metropolis today you can still see this interwar heritage in its buildings. Art Deco transformed the Victorian city, often using new materials and new technology, and was used for domestic, commercial, leisure and industrial structures throughout the suburbs as well as in the centre of London. Many of these have become some of Londons favourite landmarks from cinemas, jazz-age apartment blocks and luxurious department stores, to offices, factories, power stations and transport infrastructure, and much more.
