Automating the Lexicon

The workshop on which this volume is based, held at Grosseto in Italy, broke new ground. It brought together for the first time an international group of researchers in the field of computational lexicography. The papers provide a baseline and reference point for further research and development on problems associated with the lexicon. This is a fast-growing field with implications for a wide range of disciplines - theoretical and computational linguistics, cognitive science, and artificial intelligence - as well as for the construction of dictionaries.
