Autour de Racine

On the 350th anniversary of the birth of Jean Racine, volume 76 of Yale French Studies pays tribute to the works of this great seventeenth-century tradgedian. Specialists in a variety of fields discuss the many ways that Racine's plays are linked to other literary texts, which range from Seneca, Sappho, and Euripides to Mary Shelley, Proust, and the twentieth-century detective novel, and even beyond the strictly literary realm into the field of the visual arts.
