Avery Appreciates True Friendship

Playing softball for the Lady Tigers had always been the key to Avery, Charlotte, and Bianca’s friendship. It was the common interest they shared. But when Charlotte grows closer to a new girl in the neighborhood, Avery worries that her friend’s new interest in clothes and shopping will tear the trio apart.

Avery finds herself worrying and stressing about little things that never bothered her before, like her physical appearance and wardrobe. She becomes much more concerned with how others view her, and she isn’t happy with what she perceives as their opinion. All these emotions combined with jealousy over Charlotte’s friendship with Shelby—a non-softball player—start to affect the game Avery so dearly loves. Thankfully, the Lady Tigers have a new coach who understands their worries. The Lady Tigers love their coaches, but have a female join the coaching staff gives them a female role model.

Coach Leah addresses the girls’ concerns over acne and appearances, while still keeping them on track with their teamwork and softball skills. With the help of Coach Leah, Avery and Charlotte see each other in a different light and realize they can still be friends and have different interests.
