Back to the Garden, The Magic of Gardening Therapy

Illustrated with beautiful studio photos of plants, Back to the Garden tells the stories of patients at a rehabilitation hospital in Tel Aviv, as seen through the eyes of Anne Dubitzky, a gardening therapist. She describes those who blossom with their plants, and those who are reluctant gardeners. Some of her patients can respond to the scent of herbs only with eye blinks, and others find renewed strength with a spade and shears in hand. The stories provide a window into the cultural diversity of Israeli society. Patients -- Arabs and Jews, religious and secular -- find common ground in gardening, even as they talk about their varied backgrounds.
