Jesus said, "Go everywhere and make them my disciples by baptizing them" (Matthew 28:19). Baptism is, therefore, one of the main aspects of Christian life, and it is through the sacrament of baptism that one is saved from the clutches of sin and death and gets into a union with Christ.
