Be a Great Swimming Teacher

After many years listening to cries of help from students and novice teachers, the authors have combined their knowledge, teaching experience and coaching skills to create this unique, progressive way to teach swimming. Each stroke has a detailed description and understanding is enhanced through in-depth drawings and photographs. A 'building block' programme is presented focusing on a new framework for teaching. Main problems are identified and solutions given. This is followed by a unique 'improvement circle' concept helping the teacher take their pupils beyond the learner stage. The focus is on teaching the teacher not just what to teach (knowledge and understanding) but also on how to best present and deliver this knowledge to the class through the use of clear demonstrations, good teaching practices and key teaching points. The authors' enthusiasm for the sport is the driving force behind writing this book which aims to encourage other teachers to learn more and make a commitment to become 'A Great Swimming Teacher'.
