Beauty Unsuspected is a series of narratives written by Athena Stevens. Born with athetoid cerebral palsy, Stevens has a knack for getting herself into unique and often inexplicable situations, finding help in the most unexpected places, and seeing connections in seemingly random events. From being given tickets to the opera by a Big Issue seller, to digging up worms with her boat-dwelling neighbors, affectionately known as "the pirates," this book questions what it means to be human, vulnerable, and courageous within the most mundane activities of life.
