Becoming-Ocean Theories Towards a Marine Lyric

Description: This thesis explores how lyric poetry can embody the immensity of the ocean through an interdisciplinary approach that blends poetry, philosophy, and marine science. Using an eco-critical and phenomenological posthumanist lens, it examines the marine-themed works of Jorie Graham, developing the concept of the "marine lyric"-a poetic form that navigates perception, fluidity, and ecological consciousness. The study engages with Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology and Deleuze's notion of "the fold" to reveal how language, syntax, and white space can evoke the ocean's shifting uncertainties.
