She also holds the title of State Registered Nurse, State Certified Midwife and State Registered
Mental Nurse from England, having trained and resided there for over thirteen years. She has
worked as a Head Nurse, a Nursing Examiner for the Order of Nurses of Quebec and a
Secondary School Teacher with the English Montreal School Board for almost three decades.
She is a regular columnist for the community newspaper Montreal Community Contact, where
she writes on social, political, religious, educational, family life and current issues, with articles
also published in the Montreal Gazette, Huffington Post, Toronto Star and Pride Magazine.
She is the author of a published book of poetry LIFE'S MANY FACES, Poems in National
Library of Poetry Anthology -- River of Dreams which won the Editor's Choice Award, and
Dusting Off Dreams Volume IX published by Quill Books, Harlingen, Texas.
Yvonne was the recipient of the 2014 Governor General of Canada Caring Canadian Citizen
Award, a 2014 Black History Month Laureate and selected as one of the 100 Accomplished
