This is an anthology of folktales of different states and dialects of India. Though Indian culture is the same all over, there are many interesting regional varieties and folktales are very helpful to know them. Moreover, these folktales are of various types like tales of fantasy, fun, animals and birds, moral, righteousness, intelligence and cleverness, riddles, reasons, fools, kings and queens, princes and princesses, love, villagers, demons, magic and witchcraft, tricksters and so on. Many stories are almost similar in many regions with slight differences. The reason for this is that travelers would have spread such stories during their travel from one place to another. Thus, having spread from mouth to mouth orally, these folktales are on the verge of declining these days. Hence, such collections are required.
