Hazel is not amused when Green Street adopts its first proper orphans: Blackberry, a squeakless introvert, and Bluebell, an ex-police mascot. He develops a taste for vanquishing irritating rivals, becoming fatter, grumpier and more irresistible than ever. 

When Merridy embarks on a misguided investigation into online-dating, Hazel begins to interfere, with comical consequences for the humans involved. 

Merridy must learn to discipline her growing herd, and in the end, herself.
