A modern science fiction mystery set in San Francisco’s vibrant biotechnology industry. Susan Glasser, a socially awkward but brilliant biotechnology researcher, has been so successful that she has been able to achieve her dream of opening her own research laboratory. After numerous attempts she finally has a biologic that is showing initial promise. But before she can assess her discovery, her life is disrupted by a series of unrelated events. After her test animals are stolen, Susan becomes her own test subject – then, when a murder is committed at her place of business, she is forced to disappear without trace in order to save her life. Compelled to deal with and confront problems well outside her areas of expertise and training, she must survive with nothing but her wits to figure out why she is being chased, stay out of sight, and find a way to return and reclaim her life.
