Breaking Out Again

"Breaking Out" is an established publication in the field of feminist sociology. Initially published in 1983 and making a significant contribution to the development of a distinct feminist epistemology, it has since been widely used and cited. In this new edition the authors locate the book and its critical reception in terms of academic feminism then and now, and review the main developments in feminist thinking on research issues since it first appeared. In an extended afterword, the authors set out their own feminist analysis based on "fractured foundationalism", tackling the very heart of how we know and construct the world based on differing ethics, histories, races and sexualities.
