Breathing I Pray

Breathing, I Pray is an exploration of the practice and power of prayer. Using examples from his own life, Ivan Mann acknowledges how difficult prayer can be, and offers encouragement to persevere. He includes chapters on some of the better known ways of praying such as Lectio Divina and the Jesus Prayer, as well as exploring poetry and music, human relationship, scripture, the role of imagination and creativity and the place of silence as all means by which God speaks to us. Drawing closely on Ignatian spirituality he emphasises the importance of listening and waiting as ways of getting close to God and offers some practical suggestions for how to do this. Breathing, I Pray reminds us of the essential life-giving nature of prayer, and reveals helpful ways to approach the deepening our prayer life and relationship with God.
