British Columbia 100 Years Ago

This book features an impressive collection of black-and-white lithograph images that were sold to the public in the early twentieth century. Documenting life in British Columbia during this period of time, each image has a story to tell, and collectively they define the state of affairs in BC a century ago. The book, which has an introductory article and map of the geographic regions covered, displays images representing 80 distinct stories that capture a youthful British Columbia as it once was. Given the tremendous popularity of postcards in that era, it is fair to say that these postcards took British Columbia's raw beauty and frontier appeal out into the world, attracting the endless flow of those immigrating to British Columbia since that time.
