Palliative care health care professionals are considered a risk group in terms of burnout development, to the extent that they live daily with the disease, suffering and death. This is a very worrying psychosocial problem because it has several harmful consequences not only for the individual, such as the reduction of their quality of life (QoL), but also for the patient and the entire surrounding organisation.Considering the lack of studies addressing burnout and QoL of health care professionals working in Palliative Care in oncologic hospital settings, we sought to assess the burnout and QoL of these professionals, as well as their socio-demographic determinants, related to the professional context and job satisfaction, and psychosocial determinants. This research study aims to contribute to a better understanding of burnout and QoL among health care professionals, and specifically among those who work in oncology palliative care settings, thus improving their assessment and the use of effective prevention and intervention strategies.
