Caroline and the Not-Mamma

A strong-willed toddler alternates between terror and fury when her parents leave her in the care of her grandmother for the day. To Caroline, "Grandmother" is "Not-Mamma," and she SCREAMS at the kindly woman's every attempt to make her happy. But as the day goes on, Caroline's worst fears fail to materialize and she begins to see her grandmother in a new light. 

An expressive cat follows Caroline's antics as the child throws fits, throws food, slumps angrily in her stroller, until her mood begins to lighten when her grandmother takes her to the park. The whimsical art illuminates Caroline's fantastical view of the world, sparking the curiosity of little readers and encouraging them to engage with the book.
