Catalog of Human Cancer Genes

Victor McKusick's "Mendelian Inheritance in Man" (MIM) is a reference book for geneticists who need information on genetic disorders and the genes involved. Containing nearly 9000 entries grouped according to mode of inheritance, the book is based on information in a continuously updated, on-line database (OMIM). John Mulvihill has extracted from the OMIM the approximately 7000 entries relating to cancer and grouped them according to the organ system in which they occur in the human body. The entries are reproduced from OMIM as of December 1998. For each entry, Mulvihill has written a note on the features of the disorder that are of importance to oncologists. His goal is to make information from this valuable genetics resource available to clinical and research oncologists.
