This story is a way to show others what it could be like for a person unlucky enough to live with Alzheimer's. Life is no longer normal for them. Not as we see it anyway. A person with Alzheimer's loses their ability to control the way their mind works. Day-to-day rituals become difficult to obtain. A person affected with Alzheimer's is no longer able to just pull up a past memory with the ease that people without Alzheimer's do. The degree of their inability depends on each person. Normalcy is no longer a word in their lives. I am sure a single thought comes to all Alzheimer's patients, Catch Me on a Good Day.
Diane Deal is a retired LPN who has worked mostly in Long Term facilities where Alzheimer's can be sadly prevalent. She has observed firsthand many different degrees of this terrible disease, which is why she felt the need to somehow help others understand, in some small way, the life of an Alzheimer's patient.
She is a wife, mom, and grandmother. She has lived in the Midwest her entire life. She enjoys cross-stitching and knitting. What she loves most are her 6 grandchildren that she keeps close to her heart.
She is the author of Stand Corrected, a story of one of her many hiking trips with her family.
