The Romans won the battle in Gaul and Diarmid was sold as a slave in Rome. General Quintillus bought him, to make a Roman citizen of him. Other slaves are much worse off............... Somehow he must make it home, across 1000 miles of unknown land. What shocks, what tricks and traps are waiting? Who are his enemies? Or his friends? Can he get back before Caesar invades?
