This book focuses on how institutional settings provide a variety of resources and opportunities for firms to develop and evolve new competencies. It shows how national institutional contexts are often heterogeneous and loosely connected, offering a variety of resources that firms can use in order to enhance their competitiveness. Drawing on and developing their previous work, this international group of contributors present a range of theoretical and empirical studies that, taken together, create a new understanding of the relationship between national institutional settings and firm strategy and structure.
