Charlie and the Purple Roses

Charlie and the Purple Roses is the first story in the Glass Slipper Series written by Robin Rotenberg, author of Pound On!! From the Glass Slipper to the Glass Ceiling.  The Glass Slipper Series is meant to embolden children to overcome their fears, appreciate and respect the wonder of our world and our environment, and accept ourselves and others with happiness and pride.

In Charlie and the Purple Roses, Charlie finds a glass slipper in a field of his favorite flowers, purple roses.  He tries to find someone to fit into the slipper but learns that we don't have to fit into a shoe to fit into our world.  He happily finds a way to enjoy the beautiful glass slipper while accepting that others may be different than ourselves.  The story pivots off the fairytale notion that fitting into the glass slipper will bring the ultimate happiness and instead showcases acceptance for differences.

Charlie and the Purple Roses is a must-read for all 4 to 6-year-olds, with beautiful illustrations of characters that appear throughout the Glass Slipper Series. The book comes with an instructional activity guide for parents and educators, as well as a coloring book version for children to imagine and create their own version of Charlie and his family and friends.
