James's Chartrand suddenly found him-self thrust into the role of protector. Taking into his care three orphaned children, and their young Aunt. The children left orphaned when a tragic accident robbed them of two loving parents, and leaving their young Aunt, seriously injured and homeless. James felt he had an obligation to help Lucy too, though she was to him an impressionable girl. James a widower decided the only sensible course was for Lucy and he to marry, and provide a loving home for the twins and baby Samantha. Lucy was ecstatic, but terrified at the prospect of marriage to James, knowing he did not return the love she held for him. Could Lucy go through with the marriage?
