This comprehensive chronological reference work gives the results of the main men's chess competitions--both tournaments and matches--that took place around the world from 1747 through 1900. Entries note the location and, when available, the sponsor. First and last names of players are given whenever possible and are standardized for easy reference. Compiled from contemporary sources such as newspapers, periodicals, tournament records and match books, this work contains 465 tournament crosstables and 590 match scores.
