Chicago Folk

The vibrant urban folk scene of the 1960s and early 1970s is dazzlingly portrayed in this collection of more than 150 previously unpublished photographs by Raeburn Flerlage. From concert performances and studio sessions to interviews and intimate club shows, Flerlage's images effortlessly capture the essence of both the artists and their music. Arresting photographs of popular performers, such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Pete Seeger, mingle with those of more traditional musicians, including the Reverend Gary Davis, Booker White, Dock Boggs, and Mother Maybelle Carter as well as many other blues, bluegrass, Cajun, and gospel artists who performed at the University of Chicago Folk Festival.
