This book addresses theArctic and thenorthern regions byexploring cold waters andnorthern seascapes. It focuses oncultural discourses and artistic representations concerning thehuman experience and imagination ofhow theArctic Ocean has been explored and used. It aims toassess what is specific tothenorthern waters vis-à-vis other sea and water areas in theworld. Thecontextual background is provided bythefundamental shift fromterra-based thinking towards aqua-based thinking, including thehistories ofthenorthern waters and theinnovative ocean studies ofthelast decades.
