This memoir is the story of a Greek immigrant family who survived the Nazi occupation of World War II and the ensuing Greek civil war between communism and democracy. It intimately narrates, through the eyes of the oldest son, the family travails in Greece, their journey to America, life in the South, and their assimilation and reestablishment of a new life out of a family torn apart.
