Putting Communication into Practice

Before the 1970s in Australia, final year high school students with a flair for communication were commonly advised to be a cadet journalist or train as a teacher. An expanding economy and the government's strong expansion of the higher education sector enabled academics interested in communication study and teaching to develop education programs offering the graduates many new career options. 

Within the decade, communication courses Australia-wide equipped people with communication understandings and skills to pursue new careers consequential to human affairs and the nation's advancement--in advertising, broadcasting, business, film, government, journalism, nonprofits, public relations, teaching, writing, and emerging technologies, along with many other areas.
